KFC :@) :@)

The Colonel Wants You... To Have Some Chicken!

Because we need more time...

More fast food for you :D

Here comes my personal favorite, KFC.

I love KFC because its relatively cheap and the value for money is mostly excellent.

So here's the list of local products that I get most of the time.

Strawberry Yogurt Krushers P75 ($1.5) :@) :@) :@)

Probably the best tasting drink you will find inside a fast food joint that isn't milkshake by McDonald's. The only drawback to this is it's pretty expensive.

KFC Chewy Cheese P50 ($1) :@)

One of the better snack items around. Battered cheese balls, how could you go wrong really. The only way this screws up is when they fry the cheese balls in old oil. It affects the taste but doesn't totally ruin it. The salsa in the picture will make you add P10 more but its not worth it. The salsa tastes more like pizza sauce rather than salsa. I think its the same stuff they use for their twister (below).

Imperial Bowl P89 ($2) :@) :@)

One of my favorite lunch time meals if my purse strings are tight. The chicken fillet is of decent size and the szechuan sauce taste reasonably well with the chicken. The eggplants too are wonderfully done considering it comes from a fast food joint. They flash fry them in the deep fryer before serving for that shiny glow and extra taste.

Large French Fries P43 ($1) :@) :@) :@)

One of the best french fries ever made. I could eat these things the whole day and become fat...er

Famous Bowl P53 ($1) :@) :@)

Me and a few of my friends call this the frankenstein dish of KFC. Every unwanted bit goes into this to create a food monster. It consists of mashed potato, sweet corn, chicken poppers and processed cheese that is then topped with gravy. Sounds weird but it tastes pretty good.

Twister P75 ($1.5) :@)

Basically tastes like fast food pizza but with the addition of a pita wrap. Its decent at best. Also available in Hawaiian meaning they added pineapple

Zinger P97 ($2) :@) :@)

Spicy Chicken Burger with lettuce topped with mayo. Not really special but it tastes pretty good and hits the spot.

Fully Loaded Meal BBQ Rods P155 ($3.25) :@) :@)

So here's the latest product of KFC here in the Philippines. KFC BBQ rods. The barbecue sauce is too salty for my tastes, and that says a lot. Don't go crazy and lather the chicken with the sauce. The chicken is pretty cheap and tastes ok, nothing to complain about. The chicken that comes with the boxed meal is your standard hot and crispy chicken from KFC.

Califonia Maki Twister P79 :@) :@)

As horrible as it sounds at first glance, I decided to give it a try. The surprising part, it actually tastes good. Chicken and cucumber provide the texture, mango gives some sweetness and the secret ingredient is wasabi mayo which gives the heat. Personally I like it, but I wouldn't be surprised if some people hated it

Taste is acceptable
Value for money most of the time is great
Service though gets bogged down at times because KFC actually is pretty slow for a fast food chain. This is the only real problem I have with KFC, because sometimes I'd rather just get something from McDo or Jolibee because I only have a 30 min break.

Enjoy

*Buko- local version of young coconut. Very sweet. Usually made into juice, and/or pies.

On the way back to the hotel from Leslie's I accidentally spot the infamous Loumars Pies and Tarts.

Contrary to popular belief...The best buko pie..is not actually in Collete's..but actually in Loumars.
(as according to the locals)

Only one way to find out...

Crave Burger :@) :@)

112-A Katipunan Ave. White Plains, Quezon City

Welcome to Crave Burger

So we noticed our readers love their burgers. To serve you better we're continuing our hunt for the greatest burger joint in town. We bring you today Crave Burger.

Crave Burger. My friends and co-writer love this place. They even go as far as saying that its probably the best burger in the Philippines. Initially, I got their double crave burger, but was left disappointed as it was extremely dry. I could've been extremely unlucky or the kitchen was bogged down by the number of orders. Nevertheless, first impressions weren't good.

After being hesitant to come back, my friends convinced me to try it again since they were still raving about it. I ordered the CC1 combo which is a crave burger with fries a choice of drink (I got the blue lemonade). After dreading the first bite it was actually quite juicy and tasty. I started to understand how it could be one of the better burger places around.

So here goes my honest review on the burger.

Bono Yaki (soft opening): SKIP IT (Until Further Notice)

Here's Bono Yaki. A new eat all you can smokeless grill restaurant that also serves cooked foods and sushi via buffet style. It's located at Libis across Eastwood City.

First lets talk about the unimportant notes. We went here at about 9PM on a Thursday night. The place was totally empty. This could be due to that its been open for a couple of weeks max but one thing we noticed first is that the parking here is extremely inconvenient. So when we finally discovered where the basement parking was we went up the elevator to reach this place. The place is actually pretty beautiful. Its like the restaurant has an identity crisis. The design resembles that of Chinese fine dining restaurants, even though they could've settled for something less luxurious resulting in a less intimidating atmosphere. The staff was high energy, extremely courteous and helpful something I like in restaurants but not particularly in this type of establishment. The reason is this should be 90% self service and I'm getting at service that is at par with some high-end restaurants. Personally, I felt more tense because I was totally expecting the opposite.

Anyway... onto the food

Yo Swirls by BTIC: SKIP IT

Honestly in my opinion this is the worst froyo place I've ever tried. They have two flavors which are classic and sweet and creamy. Taste wise it borders on nothing special (classic) to bad (sweet and creamy). The yogurt was kind of bland and uninteresting compared to everything else out there. The sweet and creamy one was a bastardized form of froyo so don't even get me started.

There's also one size only for a cup and it costs...

Froyo P75 ($2) Toppings P25-P35 ($0.75) (depending on the type of topping)

Uncle Cheffy :@) :@)

2F Eastwood Mall Veranda, Eastwood City
Libis, Quezon City
(02)3837215

So we were around Eastwood city and craved for some pizza. Since I pretty much had enough of Yellowcab Pizza for an entire lifetime we decided to try some other place out. That's how me and my friends landed in Uncle Cheffy. First impressions were good. Personally I liked how the place looked and the staff was pretty hospitable.

Uncle Cheffy gives me sort of a comfy vibe which is great if you want to chill out with friends and have a few beers, or just eat out with your family. This gives it bonus points in the rating system :).

Onto the food then...

For the pizza part we got

California Berry :@) :@)

Their official site - Personally I find it cute :)

Another one of the more famous froyo peddlers in the metro.

Personally I love how it seems pretty comfortable eating here. This is probably our most frequented branch when looking for froyo. Honestly its nothing spectacular, pretty much the same with regards to the rest. Yogurt taste is fine. The toppings are pretty much what you find in your generic favored place; cereals, fruits, candy etc. Price range is pretty fair

Medium Sized Froyo P80 ($1.75) P15($0.3) 1 topping P25($0.5) 2 toppings P45($1) 3 toppings
