So for fairness sake we decided to put in McDonald's. The thing is McDonald's is found all over the world, but due to differing tastes of each locality McDonald's tries it best to cater to these local tastes. Examples of these are McDonald's serving 1pc/2pc chicken meals with rice or the chicken fillet and Hamdesal to name a few.

Basically everything is virtually the same with all McDonald's as seen below

Inspirational Story: Taho Dude with a CAR??

Now before anything...for those of you who dont know what Taho is...

its basically steamed soft tofu, mixed with syrup and topped with tapioca.

One can find this local snack almost anywhere in the Metro... (just follow the voice of the vendor screaming "TAhhooooooooooooo??" in the middle of the night)

The tofu is light and warm, while the syrup sweet.

As far as this post goes... there isn't much to say about Taho. Its either you love it or hate it.

However, what makes this food trip unique is that after a midnight snack at Jacob's Shawarma... we came across a Taho Vendor who just came out of his car!!!

Now its an old car no big deal right??? Well according to him as well as the servers at Jacob's...he usually brings his CRV.

Apparently, Manong Vic...has been selling Taho for 30 years when a cup only cost Php 1!!!!

Through sheer hardwork and perseverance...he was able to school three of his kids (two of which graduated college already...while the eldest has his own business)

This just goes to show...with enough motivation and determination...you can get by anything!

Jacob's Shawarma is a 24 hour hole-in-the-wall restaurant located in the Ortigas Business Center District that serves Turkish comfort food. So you are driving around the metro... and every so often you see Mcdonalds. But what astonishes you , is that every few blocks before and after Mcdonalds... you see a branch or two of Jollibee. In most countries Mcdonalds may be THE fast food chain of the city. In the Philippines however, Jollibee is BOSS! and in every Mcdonald chain, you will surely see one or two Jollibee facing off with it.

For history sake, Jollibee started out as a simple ice cream parlor. They then ventured into hamburgers and fried chicken and from there....with the introduction of Yum Burger, Jollihotdog, and Chicken Joy....

Jollibee became the largest fast food chain in the country.

Before reading this, i warn you that:

1. i am a HUGE burger fan. So i tend to be VERY strict in terms of quality, taste, and creativity

With that said, I present to you:

Over the months, Burger Avenue has become the new craze around Makati City.

They boast themselves in serving quality beef burgers, and their variety of

choices such as: Wasabi Burger, Crispy Bacon Melt, Cheese Pimento, and a lot more.

If you are not impressed yet, you can always take THE: drum roll........

Yea i know pretty cliche already. But still, you cant deny the fact that it draws customers like candy draws kids.

Unfortunately, i was not hungry or even crazy enough to do it. I like to savor my burgers, piece by piece. But lucky for me, my friend who is also a burger addict hooked me up with some pics and video of him taking the challenge.

The contest starts out with first paying 255php or around 4.5$ The rule is basically finish it within 5 min. you get your money back, and have your picture posted in their hall of fame (or shame depending how you see it, haha) Also, you have to eat it in front of them, and when you finish, you have to ring the bell and go to the counter with the receipt.

According to my friend, it wasnt too bad, and was actually quite easy. The trick is to make it cool down first before starting. Also, it helps to have a bottle of water beside you to flush down the food. Tate wise, the burger was pretty good. Very cheesy, and the patty was flavorful.

Anyways, as for me, I took the old crispy bacon melt.

Taste was so so, patty was good, size was reasonable...but to be honest, not really up to my standards.

The thing about this place is that it has received too much hype because of the burger challenge. Yes it is a decent burger, but wayyyyyy overrated. Cheese pimiento burger was interesting, but not something i would get all the time. The others were just ...bleh...typical.

Taste :Like i said, not bad, but nothing special as well. I personally would give it a two rating, but I may just be too picky with burgers.

Service :food came out slow even with very few customers

Ambiance : Place was small hot and crowdy

Attire: Casual

Price: $2.50-3 (P100-150) Reasonable prices for the size and quality for patties.

Other Reccomendations: Milk Shake was actually pretty good.

Dont get me wrong this place rocks. They have good burgers and offer a lot of varieties. But again, nothing different from Brothers Burger or Hotshots. As for the best burgers my rank still remains the same. #1- San Francisco Burger from National Sports Grill #2- WHAM Burger #3- Bite Club

all the rest are just typically the same burgers with different prices, although burger avenue has slightly bigger patties.

If you are anything like me, then I'm pretty sure, u make a habit of late night escapades in search for a place to pigout and have a late night snack.


Kowloon West has been around for ages. This place is well known for its cheap Chinese Dimsum and Mami's...okay fine, they're just known for their siopao. (the rest aren't really the best tasting, in fact, im not even going to put a review on them)


But nevertheless, its definitely value for your money, and the siopao is to die for!!!
