Fat Chicken... Where Size Does Matter...

Continuing the search for more authentic Taiwanese food. We stumbled upon the newly opened stall in Eastwood called Fat Chicken. Is it the real deal, or just another pretender? Lets find out.

There are a number of things that would make Fat Chicken attractive on its own, like serving unlimited rice, the size of the chicken cutlet, the smell of spices, and the friendly staff. That makes it good in all our books but the clincher though is the taste. Taiwanese chicken chops basically get their flavor from a spice mix based on five spice. The difference with Fat Chicken and other establishments that serve the same product is that their chicken on its own tastes good. It's very juicy when its freshly cooked and the chicken's taste comes from a secret marinade made by the stall owner. The flavoring powders that they use are currently only for the original and spicy. The taste though is superb and compliments the chicken very well. Original is the five spice mix while spicy is self explanatory.

Jumbo Chicken served with Unlimited Rice P85 ($2) available in Original or Spicy

Yes it's so big that they have to cut it in half before they can serve it to you. Things that describe fat chicken; Juicy, Huge, Crunchy, Delicious, Unlimited Rice, Crazy Flavor. You really can't lose on this one. Its also can be served with gravy, sweet chili sauce, or banana ketchup by request. Try this baby out if you're adventurous or famished.

They also serve Fat Chicken which is approximately 50-60% of the jumbo chicken priced at P65. This is a great everyday meal which will give you maximum satisfaction in your stomach and wallet.

They also have a new product called the Fat Chops which is actually Pork Chops. My sister tried it out and said it was extremely good and has been raving about it for days. All that for a value of P75 ($1.75)

If you love your fried chicken, Fat Chicken is definitely a must try. Go to Eastwood now to grab a taste of the biggest, juiciest and tasty chicken cutlet in town. Fat Chicken

We tried this place out at Eastwood as its highly recommended by pig out philippines, and it turns out the chicken chops and pork chops turned out poorly executed. Its far off from the ones in Taiwan. Quality of the meat is very poor. The size isn't as big as it turned out to be and very dry. We think we tasted better Chicken Chops at Serenitea and one of the best ones we've had in Manila so far is at Big Daddy's Chicken. Sorry guys..

Hi Im Jaguar Tang, owner of Fat Chicken.!

Thanks so much for ur feedback.

I do agree that the sizes are not as consistent as i want it to be, and it is definitely not as big or crispy than the one in Taiwan.

Rest assured however, That I am doing everything I can to improve our product.

Pls. do remember that this is only our 3rd week of operations.

Even big daddy as i recall, had some problems with dryness and size consistency in the early months of operation. Now, theyr almost picture perfect....and thats what I'm aiming for!

Pls do visit us again, as I promise you, it is much better than ever.

I personally went to the stall a few hours ago...and made the much needed adjustments.

In addition, we will be unleashing the
XXXL Chicken VERY SOON for the extremely famined... ;)

Again, thank you very much for your feedback, and its customers like you, that makes us wana try harder.

Thanks....

Is this a Big Daddy's Chicken copycat?

Actually this business was conceptualized 6 years ago.

It started out as a school requirement, for NBV in UA&P.

But because im FULL Taiwanese...
I cant start my own business as a foreigner.

So i ventured into something else, until my friend offered to partner up.

And now, we have Fat Chickens.
And no we did not copy Big Daddy's...although i Love their product.

:)

Well as the author personally when I went to the stall on their Grand Opening the food quality was great. If the food quality changed my bad, but as noted by the owner they are a young business and quality management is hard work so give them time.

@Anonymous I respect your opinion and note that the quality has changed. I'll check it out as soon as possible and give an updated report on what's up.

I'm highly suspicious of your posts though as they keep pushing Big Daddy's Chicken. Especially the last one about where you can find Big Daddy's Chicken while you already tried it.

In the event that the poster is different which I doubt...

dati ako nagwowork dyan sa eastwood pero sa makati na ako. Evrytime pauwi na ako or papasok pinapasalubong ko sa mrs ko FAT Chiken. ANG SARAP KC ( for us ) tapos unli rice pa. OK na OK sa akin to mura na lalo na sa gaya kong sumasahod lng ng 30k kada buwan malaking tipid to.

My only concern is dhil sa sarap ng chicken kulang yung gravy nyo. sana lakihan nyo serving ng gravy..

sana ibalik nyo rin yung promo nyo na 65peson n lng yung fat chiken next time order.

yung mga kaooficemate ko nga tinatanong kung san ko binili yun sbi ko a fat chiken s baba. tapos bumibili rin sila.
isa lng reklamo namin konti yung gravy

I just visited Fat Chicken in Eastwood and I'm sorry to say that I was not so happy with the chicken or the rice. The chicken was dry and tasted like raw flour. The rice smelled funny, like NFA rice.

^ strongly disagree... some people sure do complain for the sake of complaining sad :(

Hi guys.

I work at eastwood and i've tried Fat Chicken for several times already. Well for me, it's an exaggeration to say that it tastes really good, neither so awful you won't come back because obviously, people wont eat here if it tastes like that. It's more like a fine food, served with unlimited rice at an incredibly low price. :)

To the Fat Chicken owner, I think you must first find a more suitable location where your customers could grab decent seats to enjoy your food (i'm talking about the one located at eastwood). To tell you honestly guys, there were only few chairs available for the Food Junction and it's being shared by 4-5 different food stalls as well.

The chicken also is indeed quite big and fat, but i couldnt taste the juiciness of a "real" chicken from it, just the plain crispiness without a "kick".

And also, for those who have complaints on the limited gravy, worry not for you could ask for a free refill. :)

Well, that about it. I'm pretty sure you guys (from Fat chicken) could work on this.

Great day everyone. :)

Hi Brim!

Thank you SO much for your comments.

Constructive criticism like yours make us want to improve even more.

Haha! so YOU are the one finishing our gravy! hehe. Well actually, there is charge for our gravy refills but we take care of our regular customers, and just give it to them for free ;)

As for the location, we are working on that, but due to the limited space, its goign to take a while.

Could you maybe post your cel. number, or txt me?

I'de like you to be one of our food testers. Thank you!
