A Veneto Napoli Pizzeria Ristorante :@)

SM Megamall, Pasig City
Lower Ground Floor Building A
(where the skating rink used to be/near food court)

So I finally ate at A Veneto again, which made me giddy. For me A Veneto is the best pasta place around in the Philippines that is pretty affordable. They also serve good pizza which is an added bonus for this restaurant.

Honestly though to us Filipinos, Italian food is basically Pizza and Pasta. What sets A Veneto apart from the rest is they serve the most authentic pasta and pizza dishes around for this price range. Most restaurants that actually serve authentic stuff will charge you as much as P500 up for a dish. The terribly cheap stuff though gets extremely localized in flavor which deviates entirely from the dish being considered "Italian".

There are pros and cons to localizations of certain dishes. Some of these localizations have led to great and not so bad pizza parlors such as Handuraw Pizza, Sandy's Pizza, 3M pizza and the like. It also led to such horror stories such as the infamous "Spagetchup" and the decent Old Spaghetti House. A Veneto's other selling point for me is the servings. Honestly even I'm extremely full after one full serving of their pasta dish.

Chicken Cutlet Parmigiana P240 (5$)

I found it to be a tad too sweet for me. Honestly though I'm not really a big fan of red sauces so I'm not used to it. The chicken cutlet was delicious though and the serving's GIGANTIC so besides my personal bout with red sauce it's pretty good.

Spaghetti Ala Puttanesca P235 (5$)
I wanted to try this out because I wanted something different. Never really had seafood pasta that much before and the various flavors of Putanesca excites me. I loved how everything worked, flavor profiles were properly balanced and it wasn't too oily or too dry, which are common mistakes that happen when puttanesca is prepared.

Seafood Special P80 slice (1.75$) P455 whole ($11)
The toppings blend so well with the texture of the squid and the sweetness of the shrimp which are also beautifully seasoned. Can't help but love it honestly.

So if you guys are craving for pasta and pizza, this is definitely the place to go to. If you guys don't think so please do tell me. If there's a place more awesome than A Veneto I'll definitely go out of my way to go there.

Hello

I was planning to eat in A Veneto and we're a group of 8.. I was just wondering if you remember what the service charge was.. is it 10%? And oh, how about the drinks? Do you remember how much the refillable iced tea was?

Thanks a lot!

If I remember right there was no service charge at all... refillable drinks were at P50-70 range on the top of my head... been a long time so it's a bit hazy sorry :P
